Personal styling in a nutshell

If I were to describe my personal style I’d say I’m ‘fashion curious’, I think that has to be the most fitted answer. When something enters the fashion zeitgeist I tend to want it so I can incorporate it into my personal style. I wouldn’t say I have a defined style because I love working around different looks and feels but I do know what works for me and what doesn’t. I love the idea of mixing masculine and femininity together just because it gets you thinking what you want to achieve with a look like that. It’s fun when you can play around and have an outfit that has vintage feels, something chic yet playful and streetstyle inspired. It’s like ‘damn, you did that?’. It’s all about embracing your personal interests in clothes and what items work for you. In all honesty, it’s just fashion so have fun with it! I wanted to share three main factors that have helped me in achieving my personal style and hopefully it may help you too.

1. Basic is best

If I got a cheque for the amount of times I preach this I’d be Kylie Jenner, a billionaire. Investing in items that will carry you through for years is so important and I can’t emphasis it much. If an item can be worn however its a win. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your personal style is all about, basics fit in with Everything. I always say start of with a basic pair of denims and a tee and work from there, eventually you’ll tie outfits together that you never really thought you would.

2. Just because it’s trending doesn’t mean you have to get it

Keeping up with the latest trends can be daunting at times there’s always a fun side to it, but that doesn’t mean because that supermodel owns it and looks good in it calls for you to purchase. Hence its so important to find your style and stick to it. Not all trends will fit your mood and style so opt for trends that speak, well, you. This way you won’t feel the need to invest in every single item that’s trending. Once you get to a point where you understand what works for you and what you’re all about trends will really just be another news broadcast at the breakfast table.

3. Find your style and stick with it

I mean, this is a melody I sing almost 1000 times (nah, I’m kidding) BUT I probably should because lately all I see is people trying to fit with what’s the now. Know your body, what you like and what works for your body type. Also, don’t forget to put comfort first more than anything! Once your comfortable, confidence and everything else will follow.
