Good news is you don’t have to go out and buy an arsenal of products. You can easily make your own exfoliating masks straight out of your kitchen cupboard. Let’s serve!
1. Orange and Yoghurt face mask
Plain yoghurt is a great source of lactic acid making it a superb exfoliant. It helps reveal clearer, brighter, smoother skin. Orange juice which is a citric acid that helps brighten skin. You can add aloe vera to soothe and nourish your skin feeling smooth for days. Apply using gentle circular motions and let the mask dry for 10 minutes. Rinse with tepid water.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of plain yoghurt
- 2 teaspoons of squeezed orange juice
Pro tip: the vitamin C content helps fight free radicals and helps repair any damaged caused to skin environmentally.
2. Fruit salad exfoliating mask
Three acids found in fruits the result is 99.9% sweet. Glycolic acid found in pineapples, citric acid found in lemon juice and tartaric acid from grapes. These ingredients minimises pores, reduces hyperpigmentation, improves skin tone and smoothes skins texture. Apply evenly and let mask sit for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and gently pat dry with a clean, soft cloth or towel.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup pineapple
- 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 cup grapes
Pro tip: lemon juice can irritate the skin. If you experience any irritation or a burning sensation wash off immediately.
3. Liquid breakfast exfoliating mask
Orange juice citric acid eradicates any clogs in your pores. It’s high vitamin C content acts as a powerful antioxidant to repair and brighten skin. The coffee grounds acts as a gentle physical exfoliant. Apply a layer and let the mask sit for 20 minutes.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon coffee grounds
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
Pro tip: wash off with massaging motions to exfoliate away dead skin cells.
4. Sugar and plain yoghurt
These two acids work well together. They naturally exfoliate the skin and since its a double dose of potent acid it will leave your skin looking glowy and youthful. Apply a thick layer and let mask sit for 15 minutes.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of plain yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
Pro tip: sugar acts as a physical exfoliant as well as a source of glycolic acid.
Glyclocic acid stimulates cell turnover and breaks down clogs in your pores.
