From classical combinations to more directional duos I’m sharing four of my current favourite go-to colour combinations. I’ve shared my minimalist journey so many times on the site and wanted to share that a minimalist can do colour too. These are just outfits with a bit more colour yet chic and what I like. Please join me as I share my feel-good colour combos.
Look 1
If you’re familiar with my blog post ‘simple and minimal’ which you can always go back and check out [Read Here : Simple & Minimal – Part 1 ] you would have seen this look. I’ve been really drawn to mixing various colours that you most unlikely to find a minimalist who wants to play with colour trying to do. This duo is honestly such a beautiful colour combination. I love that the palette of a look like this is from different colour groups but they still oddly complement each other. To keep the look subtle I also go for a more minimal shoe and/ accessory.

I actually came across an editorial on Pinterest from a local brand by Sindiso Khumalo, where the campaign had looks with a mixture of browns and blue-greenish tones. I loved the looks and wanted to recreate it but still try fit it into my personal style. I opted to mix my blueish pants with my bandage top which is slightly more of a light-nude. I instantly fell in love with the look. Paired with white shoes and it still locks in that minimal feel which I’m still leaned on. It’s such a clean colour palette and I don’t feel too ‘off’ from my minimal side.

Look 3
You’d be surprised there’s so many people who don’t like the idea of mixing brown and black (almost like a blue-green, orange-pink situation) but I honestly don’t mind. In fact, I love it. Especially a different play on tones of the items. It’s a very toned-down, dark palette and I think an outfit like this works well in the Autumn/Winter. I paired the outfit using both my brown and black heels dependent on which look I’m going for.

Anything monochromatic does really lock in a fancy look – very stylish and modern. Think colours that are from the same colour group. It gives it more character considering the different tones. I mixed my light blue cardigan with blue pants. With a mono look like this I think keeping it subtle by throwing in white shoes, works really well.
