Skin hydration is the amount of water in your skin cells. What you should know is that your skin is made of 70-80% water, thus if your skin cells are dehydrated, cells will be shriveled up like a raisin. Dehydrated skin cells won’t be plump leading to dull skin and making fine lines more visible. Hydrated skin drinks in nourishment from treatments, serums and moisturizers more easily because they are prepped to absorb.
If you are noticing more fine lines, your skin needs more hydration which comes from facial toners, tonics and masks which help infuse those poor thirsty cells with nourishing hydrating phytonutrients. Always use a toner or tonic after cleansing to rehydrate skin cells before adding serums or moisturisers. Skin moisturization is more about looking in that hydration/water content, protecting and nourishing the skin barrier and reducing water loss. Moisturizers like oils, serums and creams look in hydration and keep skin glowy, smooth and soft.
If you have dry, flaky or patchy peeling complexion you need to focus on adding oil based cleansers, moisturising with serums, oils and moisturising masks bringing rich emollien.
Below I put some skincare recommendations to assist you in kickstarting your skin’s natural hydration.
