After years of being in favour, the midi skirt has definitely made the switch from being an on-trend addition to a wardrobe staple. The midi skirt is definitely a piece you can wear or style the exact same way you did years ago. Even the most relied upon pillars of your closet can benefit from an outfit experiment now and then. So, with A/W well under way, I thought I’d share 3 current looks I’ve been wearing to get some extra mileage out of my midis and feel entirely up to date. Keep scrolling to see how I’ve been styling the midi skirt this autumn season and hopefully you’ll feel inspired to try out different ways to elevate your autumn looks.
Look 1

My ultimate go-to trend when styling the midi skirt and honestly the easiest. This is without a doubt a no fuss, not gonna ‘blow your brains out’ look. I love how elevated, chic and trendy this look is. Timeless too. With the midi and jumper combo you can go two ways- if you find that wearing a baggy jumper swamps you, you can always try French-tucking the front in. So, whichever look you prefer and feel works well with your personal style. I could do with both looks in all honesty, it just boils down to what look I’m going for on that particular moment.
Look 2

I know my minimalists will embrace this trio with muted tones that are simple yet stylish. A look like this definitely looks like you put effort when you’ve done the bare minimum. I love the contrast between grey and black and talk about a mix of textures that easily go together. If the temperature does drop I usually throw on a leather jacket to give the outfit a more vibrant, fashionable feel.
Look 3

A classic, timeless and easy play on style. This look can be easily changed up or down dependent on the weather and the look you’re going for. I like rocking this look with a basic tee and white sneakers in the S/S and throwing on a leather jacket if it does get cold in the evening. Although, this A/W I decided to switch it up by holding onto the sweater and instead throwing on a classic button-down shirt. A classic white shirt is so fun and functional and can be tucked in or worn as is for an oversized, A-line silhouette play. A statement, classic blazer throw on is something you can never go wrong with.
Additional Style Tips:
- Try investing in different midi skirts designs, colours or textures like pleated skirts, A-line styles, slips, velvet, satin, ruffled, whatever the style.
- Add a leather jacket and trainers and you have the perfect day-to-day ensemble.
- Add a fun twist to it by adding a checked blazers to elevate your look.
- You can try to be more daring with colour, print and texture.
A midi skirt is honestly such an essential piece to own. I hope you felt inspired to consider styling this piece every now and again to give your style an elevation and trendy feel. Happy midi styling!
