Meet Penelope Mohlabine, LLB Student & Meme Enthusiast
HAUT : Describe what you do
PENELOPE : I’m a final year LLB student. Being a full-time online student can be extremely stressful, so I go on adventures every chance I get and I also share memes just to keep sane.
HAUT : What’s your skin type
PENELOPE : Dry and sensitive
HAUT : Tell us about your current skin care routine
PENELOPE : I try and keep my routine as minimal as possible. In the morning I cleanse with water only and my Neutrogena facial scrub in the evening. For moisture I use my Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lotion, if it’s day time I’ll top it off with my Eucerin Sensitive Protect Sun Cream and that’s about it. For spots I use the Avène Cleanance Expert Soin Emulsion and once in a blue moon when I’m feeling boujee, I mask using the L’Oréal Pure Clay Detox Mask.
HAUT : What’s one thing you wished you learned sooner with regards to skin (yours in particular)
PENELOPE : That I don’t need to purchase every product in the market to have healthy looking skin. I learned the hard way that being a product junkie especially with sensitive skin made my skin even more sensitive and prone to breakouts.
HAUT : Your favourite skincare brand
PENELOPE : Tough call between Avène and Neutrogena.
HAUT : What’s the last skin care product you finished and would you purchase it again?
PENELOPE : It was the Eucerin Sensitive Protect Sun Cream. Ah man, I love that stuff! Would I purchase it again? Well, I sure did. Look, I don’t even wait for it to finish, I always stock up.
HAUT : Any skin care tricks or tips to share
PENELOPE : Don’t worry I won’t advise you to drink water. Don’t you just hate how the only skin care tip people with flawless skin give is that you should drink water? Well, I hate that advice because I spend most of my day in the loo due to daily water intake and guess what? My skin isn’t flawless! Okay where were we? Oh skin care tips… Wash your face with clear water in the morning and use your facial cleanser in the evening especially if you have sensitive skin. Over cleansing your face with a facial cleanser can lead to irritation, dryness and even breakouts. Another tip is to air dry your face. Towels can be very harsh on your skin and can often lead to irritation. Oh and one more thing, don’t forget to drink plenty of water.
HAUT : Skincare words of encouragement
PENELOPE : Love yourself even more when your skin is at it’s worst.
