Slipping Into Faux Leather

Had you asked me 2 years ago if I’d ever wear leather pants my immediate response would be ‘no!’. To date, I just recently got them. Yes, I did and yes, they feel like a bigger deal than they actually are. After months of passing them by on window displays and having them constantly pop up on my Pinterest timeline I finally found a pair which I feel I’m happy about. I got the Vegan Mom-Rise leather pants from H&M and I am surprisingly excited to style them. For now, I am looking forward to just putting together looks paired with basics and slowly gravitate towards swapping simple tops with perhaps statement-like ones.

On that note I wanted to put my creativity into play and try out 4 looks that I am currently happy with as a starting point. These are all simple yet fun. I didn’t think too hard about these looks because I thought about outfits I would wear pair with my black pants just with a leather swap. Treating them like I would any pair of jeans and just styling them without thinking too hard. For me, the curation of simple yet stylish is always what I keep in mind when putting looks together and I’m not changing that idea just yet. I also covered a faux leather blazer edit that you can check out since I am clearly having a leather moment [ Read Here: The Leather Blazer Winter Edit ] for now you can check out my faux leather pants edit.

Look 1

Shirt Jacket, H&M
Flip Flop Sandals, Cotton On

A surprisingly favourite look right now is pairing these leather bottoms with a denim shirt jacket. I think this look locks in really well together especially considering the texture and tones. I paired this look with my Ginza dupes.

Look 2

Faux Leather Blazer, Foschini
Top, H&M
Trainers, Maxed

A double leather look is definitely a preference thing.  The premise of this double leather outfit is simplicity, sophistication and versatility. I could have easily paired this look with heels or even boots but I wanted to add a fun touch to it by adding my basic trainers.

Look 3

Shirt Jacket, H&M
Trainers, Maxed

Still keeping to the trainers I swapped my leather blazer for this light corduroy over-shirt. I like this look so much because of the blue tones in both my shoes and this top. It’s definitely a trendy, no brainer look.

Look 4

Top, H&M
Flip Flop Sandals, Cotton On

A pretty, feminine look is a something you can never go wrong with. This happens to be one of the top-of-my-head outfits when styling these pants especially since I’ve never worn leather bottoms. I like the idea of pairing these pants with a very pretty top. the detailing in the sleeves and the gathering around my chest is so trendy and fashionable. I can also easily wear heels to make the look more dressier and it can be turned into a date look.

Let me know what your favourite look is and what are elements you add to your faux leather bottom looks.
